In the newest addition to Robertfranciswine.ie I have selected three wines that will be perfect for Christmas dinner from a selection of retailers within Galway. Similar layout to my articles in the Connacht Tribune where I have picked wines from three different price bracekets. However the price brackets that I will be using for this article are

(a) Wines under €12

(b) Wines under €20

(c) Wines over €20

So hopefully there will be something here for everyone ! The first retailer that I am covering is Thomas Woodberrys on Middle Street in Galway. Declan has sourced a really strong selection of wines from around the globe and the following would be my selections for Christmas Day.

Whites

Finca Remendio Blanco 2007 – an interesting white blend from Rueda in Spain €10.95 a bottle approx. 87 Points

Leeuwin Siblings Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc 2006 – a fantastic white from Western Australia. So good that I had this at my own wedding ! €17.95 a bottle approx. 90 Plus Points

Chateau De La Charriere Santenay 2006 – A delicious white from Burgundy at a really solid price. €26.95 a bottle approx. 90 Points.

Reds

Hanza Rioja Tinto 2006 – A smooth red from Spain at a nice price. €10.95 a bottle approx. 87 plus points.

Saintsbury Carneros Pinot Noir 2004 – A delicious Pinot from California. €19.95 a bottle approx. 90 Points. Click here for video details.

Greenhough Hope Estate Pinot Noir 2003 – A truly brilliant Pinot Noir from New Zealand at a great price for the quality you are getting. €34 a bottle approx. 94 Points.

So there you have it – if you are looking to stock up in Woodberrys I don’t think that you will go to far wrong with these selections.
