Solid Shiraz from Moet & Chandon – Well Kinda

Green Point Shiraz 2004

Green Point is Moet & Chandon’s Australian outpost.  Befitting the infamous brand, the wines are a fantastic representation of the Yarra Valley region in Victoria.

This shiraz is a gorgeously dark coloured wine with a nose of dark plums, pepper and spice.  The cooler climate in the Yarra Valley, as in all cooler climate regions, results in well-balanced wines.

On the palate, the fruit is ripe, lush and soft. The black fruits and spice are focused and concentrated as we have come to expect from good Australian Shiraz. The finish is balanced, rich and elegant.

This wine would go well with red meat dishes, casseroles and one of my favourites, roast belly of pork.
