Alta Vista Premium Malbec 2006
Despite being one of the 6 grapes allowed in Bordeaux based blends it is in Argentina, not France, where the Malbec grape has not just succeed but flourished.
It has singled handed help bring the Argentinean wine Industry into the global marketplace. Similar to what Sauvignon Blanc did in New Zealand Malbec has succeeded in getting huge critical acclaim and mass appeal.
Alta Vista is a French own winery that makes delicious wines that not only reflect the terroir of Argentina and Mendoza but have the tradition and know how to make it count.
Gorgeous intense cherry black coloured wine which has good balance and elegance. On the nose there are black fruits, cherries and a streak of meaty earthiness. There is an aroma of an uncooked piece of steak which is very interesting. On the palate there is a creaminess to the fruit from the oak which is yummy – blackcurrants, spice, liquorice, cherries and blueberries all come ringing through. This is quite elegant and classy stuff !
If you are looking for a wine that is perfectly suited to a nice simply cooked steak – then look no further. With sufficient tannins, fruit and intensity to handle a nicely cooked steak this is a match made in heaven !
