My Wines of the Year

 Drum roll please …..

After a fantastic year of tasting so many new and different wines I thought that I would try and pull of this information together into list of my best of 08.

Under the following categories the following were my favourites

Red – L’Ame Soeur Syrah 2006 Stepane Ogier, €35 approx, The Vineyard

Had fantastic power, structure and elegance with great minerality. Total perfection from the Northern Rhone.

White – Grosset Picadilly Hills Chardonnay 2004, €30 approx, Liberty Wines

Total surprise from the high priest of Riesling from Down Under – this Chardonnay was classy, elegant and just totally brilliant. Definitely one to seek out !

Budget Red - Vino Obra Roble 2006 Ribera del Duero, €14 Approx ,Thomas Woodberries

Textbook Ribera that if you havent tried one before this is the perfect entry point for you. Great fruit and power. Click here for full tasting note
